Today, on a Day 3 of our In-Depth series with Kinga Owczennikow we share with you her project “Delusions”.

The series was shot in Japan, Tokyo in dark and dim monochromatic. There is an amazing sense of calm and peacefulness embedded in the photographs, in tune with the well know Japanese sense of beauty.

“Delusions is a series of photographs taken in Tokyo, during a lonely trip, based on spontaneity and question marks, roaring in my head. I believe that photographs speak more about the photographer’s interior than the photographed moments of continuum. A strong typhoon Phanfone was heading straight for Japan, as I arrived in darkened city of empty streets, drenched in rain but still presenting an astonishing order. For the first time, I found The teaching of Buddha in the hotel’s drawer and having opened it randomly, I came across a sentence, which pretty much outset the uncomplicated rhythm to this body of work: Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. That said, I called those moments: delusions.”
